Aurora Marcopoulos grew up in Cape Town, to a Swiss Portuguese mother and Greek father. This is where her love for different cultures, people and travel stemmed from, which is a strong source of her inspiration.

The driving force behind her paintings is her fascination with human emotion and expression, which she feels is portrayed in the most honest and powerful way on ones face. Although her style is continuously evolving, her subject matter is a constant as she is inspired by the beauty and uniqueness of the human being. Her weapons of choice are paint brushes and oil paints. She layers paint, using well-defined brush strokes and often incorporates unnatural colour in the face of her subject matter.

She is largely self-taught, however attended a short portrait-painting course in 2017 at the London Atelier of Representational Art in London. She is available for commissioned works.
